How double charge tiles are made, and where they fit
A double charge tile is pressed in two layers: a coloured upper layer over a plain body. Because the colour runs through a layer of real thickness, rather than sitting only on a thin printed surface, the design is more resistant to light surface wear.
Why the construction matters
On a floor that sees heavy use, the surface slowly wears. With a thicker coloured layer, light wear tends to show less than on a tile whose design sits only on a thin printed surface.
Where to use them
They suit entrances, corridors, shops, showrooms, offices and other places with constant foot traffic, as well as ordinary home floors that need to last.
Laying and joints
Large floor tiles need a flat, well-prepared base and a suitable floor adhesive. Keep the joints even and follow the adhesive maker's instructions for curing before the floor is used.
Care
Sweep or vacuum grit regularly, because grit is what scratches floors over time, and mop with a mild cleaner. Avoid harsh acids on the tile and the grout.
